Developmental Update: Lil'Miss 25 Months, Lil' Bean 6 Months
Time flies, today I went through my old blog that I stopped posting on a year or so ago. I read of Lil’Misses first 9 months and my pregnancy with her. Time is passing Oh So quickly. I am grateful she is learning and growing. We visited the doc a few weeks back and she is in the 97%ile for her height and also up there for her weight. Sometime I think people mistaken her to be older than she is. Some times I mistaken too. I talk to her like she is a little adult. Then she jabbers back in young two year old language and I am brought back to reality.
Her greatest accomplishments over the past month have been in her language skills. She is repeating words like crazy. It is almost as if things are coming together in her little brain and she is just getting how to communicate better. It is something I learned about in my schooling and I witnessed it a few times when I taught developmental preschool, but it is so much fun to see it happen right in front of you! Her newest phrase, “I da no.” (I don’t know). Or, “Let’s see!” There are so many more, but my mind is tired and foggy.
Lil’Miss is a ball of energy and leaves me wide eyed and exhausted often. She is fast and likes to play the game of I’ll take your things and run. She glances and makes sure you are watching and then bolts it. I of coarse have quit playing this little game, but sometimes it is inevitable. Although she is exhausting and pushes me to my wits end some days, she is so very sweet too. Several times a week I have been going to the gym and she goes to the kid’s room there. Yesterday I was at the back of the gym not far from the kid’s room and I could hear her greeting other parents as they were coming in to drop off their kids with a happy, “Hi!!” Then as they left to go workout she would say, “Bye, see ya later!” I looked up, just as the mom was heading to the workout area and she was giggling with a grin. Lil’Miss is friendly and spreads joy.
She spreads a lot of joy, but she is also a full blown two year old. Terrible two’s is an understatement. Our days are filled with a strong will and temper tantrums. The good news is that she is still easily distracted, so tantrums don’t last too long!
Lil’Bean is getting so big and is so very cute. He loves to smile and laugh. Lil’Miss is enjoying finding ways to make him laugh. She likes to get really close to him and he will grab her hair and laugh and she just patiently waits until I can get his death grip off of her hair. They are becoming the cutest little friends.
Lil’Bean is becoming more mobile. He rolls from his back to his tummy, and occasionally can roll back, to his back. Mostly he just pivots his way round the room as he rocks back and forth. He is able to sit for short periods of time with out assistance. We pulled out the exer-saucer this week and he has enjoyed this new toy standing tall.
He is blossoming in his fine motor skills. He crosses mid-line when grasping objects and will pass an object from one hand to the other. He enjoys grabbing his blanket and stuffing it in his mouth. He is so close to getting his two bottom teeth. He has been displaying teething behavior for so long now (running nose, chewing on his hands and toys, and all together crankiness). I anticipate a break from teething after these teeth make their appearance.
When Lil’Bean is happy, he is the sweetest smiley baby. You can’t help but smile and giggle with him.
For the month the kids have been sharing a room. It has worked out okay so far. I know I am getting better rest even though I am still getting up 1-2 times a night to give him a bottle, but just having him out of our room is helpful. Lil’Miss is actually adjusting better than we expected, which is nice. She sleeps through most of this middle of the night crying, thank goodness!
I am grateful for my kids and their progress. I am a lucky woman!
Happy Momming!

Amber, it's so good to have you blogging again.
Uh huh....curious girl....I loved watching Lil Miss stooping down to peek and poke her finger through the hole in your fence, to look at the neighbor dogs. She'd jump back when the dogs would bark loud or try to lick her. Then go back again and again. Such a learner in her world.
Jocile-- Thanks, I am pretty much a periodic blogger. I get to it here and there in spurts.
Mom-- Thanks so much for coming over and helping out with the kids yesterday. It was great to finish some projects around the house. Yes, she is such a curious little girl!!!
