I wanted to jazz up rice krispie treats a bit for the 4th of July. Here’s how…
Patriotic Rice Krispie Treats
1 Package of marshmallows
6 Cups Rice Krispies (divided)
½ Cube of butter/margarine
Gel food coloring: red and blue
½ Cup each Red and blue Fruit Loops
Essentially this is three mini batches of rice Krispie treats stacked on top of each other.
The first batch I did in blue, so my finished product would be red, white then blue. For ease, I cut my butter into thirds, one for each recipe.
So here is the mini batch break down:
Approximately 12 Marshmallows
2 Cups of Rice Krispies
Chunk of butter/margarine
Food coloring
Fruit Loops
Melt butter, after it is fully melted add marshmallows and a few drops of food coloring until desired color is accomplished, take off the heat and add rice Krispies and Fruit Loops. Spread the mixture in greased 9x13 pan. Repeat 2 more times, omitting the food coloring and fruit loops for middle layer.
Happy Independence!

These were so yummy. I loved the added element of the "froot loops". Yum.
They were "just right" chewy, too! Yum.
