We lived our first week or so without a microwave, not really
that big of deal but they are so convenient when you get used to having fast
hot water. I am realizing again that it
isn’t that big of deal to heat things up on stove top.
Lil’Miss loves Grandma’s second small oven. I used it to re-heat some food and she thinks
it is her own special little oven.
We are also pioneering with out a clothes dryer. I went to Home Depot to get a new dryer cord
that will be compatible with this place and it turns out the outlet cord that
will fit in the wall is the same voltage as an oven. I was told that it could burn out our
dryer. I know grandma had a dryer and
they didn’t seem to have any issues, but with trying to simplify and save we
are just going to go with out one for now and hang our clothes to dry.
I would rather preserve our dryer that cost
more than my first two cars combined! There is more than enough space in this
house to hang things to dry. It is so
arid her in Idaho
in the winter that the clothes are drying surprisingly quickly for as cool as
we keep the house.
We are also preparing for our tiny home by washing all our dishes by hand and use the dishwasher as a drying rack. Grandma's house has a dishwasher, but I figure there is no better time that now to get back into the habit of hand washing. Lil'Bean thinks it is his special job to help mommy with the dishes. I find him often at the sink turning on the water and playing. We have gotten a dishwasher in training!
Onward Pioneers!
Happy Settling In!
